Native Tongue

I was so mad about the suggestion I read at our company magazine. Some asshole suggests to stop using native tongue during office hours. He said English should be the only medium to be used in communicating. Let me put it here verbatim and let me show you how horrendous and how discriminatory his remarks are. Wooo the text is too long so I rather summarized it. The point is can we use English in every conversation as a sign of courtesy to everyone.

This is very controversial issue especially on highly diverse company where you have Asians, Mexicans, Americans and some Europeans. It is likely that people of the same ethnicity will speak on their native tongues not because they are rude but because it is easier for them and they find it more efficient. I agree however that there should be limitations and some degree of courtesy must be observed.

I myself speak to my Filipino co-worker in Tagalog even though I am fluent in English. Filipinos have some style in work that are unique and speaking in Tagalog is one of them. It has soul and heart whenever we converse inTagalog. When we talk in English with our kababayan it kinna sound too formal or the element of being kababayan is lost. So, it is very seldom you'll see both filipino speaking in english dito sa US.... Meron nag-eenglish syempre pero mas marami pag nalaman pinoy, magtatagalog yan. hehehehe

Specifying the limitations is important nonetheless. We choose to speak in english during meeting and discussions with clients. This is why we were hired in the first place. We are talented and can speak fluent english. So it is our job!

So have we resolved the issue then? I agree with the respond of the editor of our company paper. The diversity of the company is one of the reason of its success. Speaking in one's language is inevitable but should be practiced in courteous way.

sidepoint: Madaldal lang kc kaming pinoy kaya pinagbabawalan mag chikahan sa tagalog! hahahahaa

Nadal beats Federer

De ja vu! Nadal over powers again Federer grabbing him to have a calendar grand slam this year. The Spaniard dominated the whole game only a short hiccups during the second set. Federer's graceful strokes showed insufficient to strong forehand of Nadal.

All in all the game was enjoyable. Let's see what happens to Wimbledon.

Got A DVR

Now i have no reason to miss a show. But of course i have to be aware that the show is on. Little things to reward myself. Selfish. If that's the only reason i'll be happy, i wont have second thoughts. I had a pizza and buffalo wings after realising that living to the fullest is not a bad idea. Queen Latiffa in her movie-- Last Holiday which i watched ON demand regrets of expanding her possibilities in to realities a little bit too late. But there is no such thing as never too late. Not until your dead of course. Having most satisfying meal or your extravagant clothes are the things that made her happy. So be it! But of course those are the things that she doesnt have. Being happy is satisfying all what you need and feeding your ego. In philosophy there are levels of happiness. Being happy is accepting you dont need anything else and your are satisfied. Happiness that money cant buy. Sounds like a credit card ad but its true. For now, I, not happy. Because i dont have what I want. I want more. More than you can imagine. Not only tangible things but also intagible. But since I'm young, I am settling for tangible things first. Im gettin myself an I-phone! even if cost me fortune... hehehehe

been a while

It's been awhile since i last posted my blog here. I feel rusty on using words to express what I feel. I formally completed the four season here in US. Summer- Fall- Winter and Spring.

Summer na nman so one cycle na... Meaning I already spent a year here. Ok.. Help me review the cute and memorable things that happened.

First time to spend Christmas away from home. Im blessed though I have cousins and relatives in San Jose. The bus trip via Greyhound is excruciating. I will never ride a bus for a long trips again. But I will certainly come back. Sana I'll have a chance to visit Golden Bridge.

Work
Work
Too much work. Do I need to elaborate. I started with plain piece of paper. Now P&ID and datasheets are issued for design. They are actually buying the equipment. HEHEHE
This is such a good feeling... pero nakakatakot din.. baka sumabog design ko! hahahha

My friends from houston spent their spring here in LA. NAg disney at universal.
Total chaos sa apartment. But I enjoyed it. I miss people jumping here sa apartment. Its better than just me and my roomate... seating and watching TV.

Movies, Popcorn and more movies

Of course I wont miss Spiderman3, shrek etc.. wonderful movies this year..

Songs... ipod and more itunes. I promised to walk 30 mins around sa park for cardio and weight loss. My ipod keeps my rythm and makes my brisk walk more enjoyable. cant wait for iphone! Hope they release it na.

IPS.. visa.. H1B .. Green card. I'm so blessed this year. I thank the lord and my family for all the prayers. Got approved with my H1B. It means I will have a working visa and be absorbed in Technip as a regular employee. Next is green card! Pero Pinoy pa rin ako! Sori I'll be balimbing pero nothing can take that away from me. My allegiance might be from two countries but my heart is still sa Pinas. Frustrating nga lang sa tin..

Got my own car, apartment, tv, phone, laptop.. In a year... Thank you Lord for all the blessings!
(di pa bayad ang kotse and share sa apartment not owned!)

Friends, more friends, mga bata, berdey, binyag...
More party.. more calories from kare2, menudo and bbq. Pinoy love to eat! Certainly pinoy gathers sa park to celebrate bday etc..

Dami pala nangyari.. So many things that happened and it seems kahapon lang.

Baka di ko malayan pauwi na ako!

Tanong ni Ate K: " Happy ka na ba dito?"

I nodded with great optimism. I love LA. This is a beautiful city. Love the weather. Love the weather. Love the convenience. Love the opportunity. One thing is missing though. One person that i will love and will love me...
